What We Believe

Vision Statement

Our vision is to become a church that is built on the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. The Great Commission instructs us to “make disciples of Christ.” The Great Commandment teaches we are “to love God with all our heart and our neighbor as our self.”

Mission Statement

The mission of Community Baptist Church is to build a community of disciples of Jesus Christ, equipping them to conform to Christ’s image. We desire to live authentic lives empowered by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, resulting in new ways to serve others in Jesus’ name.

Core Values

Authenticity

  • Living in integrity before God and others.
  • Conforming to His image.
  • Transparent in our relationships with one another.

Accountability To…

  • God for conduct and faith.
  • One another in service and in love.
  • Learning and living God’s Word.
  • God with our resources time, money, talents, thoughts, and effort.

Close Relationships

  • Warmth, restoration, sharing, compassionate, community, mentoring, unity in belief and service.

Development

  • Personal and spiritual formation.
  • In God’s Word.
  • In leadership and mentoring.
  • Through church planting in the local community and abroad.

Empowerment

  • Empowered by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to serve others enthusiastically.

Service

  • Focused externally on the community and the world. Caring actions within the body of Christ.

Prayer

  • Prayer is essential to every aspect of Christian life and spiritual development. Prayer is communion with God and is for discernment of God’s will in all things. Everything at Community Baptist Church will rigorously begin, be continuously supported, and completed with concerted prayer. A dedicated ongoing prayer life is a requirement for all Community Baptist Church leadership.
Beliefs

God

  • We believe God has revealed Himself generally in nature, specifically in the Bible, and personally in Jesus Christ.
  • We believe there is one living and true God, who is One in essence, yet who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Man

  • We believe that man was created perfectly in the image of God in order to glorify and enjoy a personal relationship with Him.
  • However, man fell through disobedience and became separated from a Holy Pure God.
  • Man is unable to earn forgiveness or eternal life through his own effort.

Christ Jesus

  • We believe that Jesus Christ died in our place on the cross to bring us back into a personal relationship with God.
  • Jesus paid the complete price for our sins.
  • Anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ alone as his/her Savior becomes a child of God and receives eternal life.
  • We believe once saved always saved.

The Bible

  • We believe the bible is the divine authority of God and God’s revelation to mankind.
  • The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, plenary Word of God. God did not put inspiration into the Holy Scripture, but rather breathed-out the inspired Word of God.
  • The Bible is the final authority for mankind and is binding upon man – on his mind, conscience, will, and heart.

The Church

  • We believe that the church is the body of Christ, and consists of all believers regardless of denominational affiliation.

Prayer

  • We believe prayer is essential to every aspect of Christian life and spiritual development. Prayer is communion with God and is for discernment of God’s will in all things. Everything at Community Baptist Church will rigorously begin, be continuously supported, and completed with concerted prayer. A dedicated ongoing prayer life is a requirement for all Community Baptist Church leadership.

History / Future

  • We believe the next event in the divine history of man will be the personal return of Jesus Christ for the church.
  • Believers will appear before the judgment seat of Christ and unbelievers will appear before the Great White Throne Judgment.
